Bauhaus Luftfahrt at Berlin Future Forum
Mar 11, 2011 | On March 23rd, Bauhaus Luftfahrt will for the first time present its interdisciplinary research work at the Berlin Future Forum (“Berliner Forum Zukunft”) organized by the German Council on Foreign Relations (“Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik”, DGAP). In his impulse presentation to the event “Aviation in 2030 – Visions, Concepts and Chances of Realisation” Prof. Dr. Mirko Hornung, Director Science and Technology, will provide the high-ranking attendees from industry and politics with detailed insight to the most important drivers and technological challenges of future aviation.
According to its interdisciplinary approach, research at Bauhaus Luftfahrt does not only consist of the analysis of socio-economic drivers such as resource scarcity, population development or climate change. It further encompasses the assessment of novel concepts and technologies in regard to their impact on the highly complex system of aviation, an aspect that might be critical for future aircraft generations. These objects of research include for example radically new aircraft designs, novel cabin concepts as well as alternative fuels and propulsion systems.
Founded in 1999 by the research arm of DGAP, the Berlin Future Forum focuses on structure and development of European and transatlantic security and defence policy, on current civil and military aerospace issues and the analysis of aerospace and defence industry restructuring.
