“Ready for Take-off?” – ITF/OECD Report on Drones in Transportation
Transport drones and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) are often stated to solve existing problems in the transport sector. However, the extent to which this potential new means of transport delivers on these promises and what social, economic, ecological, and infrastructural impacts the use of transport drones will actually have is still uncertain. Within the ITF/OECD working group “Drones in the Transport System: Acceptability and Integration”, Bauhaus Luftfahrt discussed the use of drones for passenger and freight transport together with international experts.
The report “Ready for Take-off? Integrating Drones into the Transport System” presents and discusses development pathways and regulatory measures developed within the working group. The report provides guidance on how countries can benefit from the advantages of drone transport and at the same time limit the risks. Special attention is also paid to the topics of acceptance, efficiency, and sustainability.
Bauhaus Luftfahrt contributed to the chapters on societal and economic impacts of transport drones.
