Final Presentation of Future “Trusted Aviation 2030+” Scenarios

In 2020, Bauhaus Luftfahrt again supported the course “Practical Aviation Scenarios” at the Technical University of Munich together with Airbus and Munich Airport. The event took place under special conditions in hybrid form with digital meetings as well as face-to-face meetings.

During this course, the student team developed three distinct, consistent scenarios depicting the future development of the aviation system with special consideration of the corona situation and environmental requirements. The final scenarios differ in terms of future global corona development, usage of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), projected passenger demand, economic and political developments, level of digitalisation and automation, and varying environmental awareness on the demand side.

The final presentation of the internship took place last Thursday, January 21st, 2021, titled “Trusted Aviation 2030+: Influence of global COVID-19 pandemic on future door-to-door air travel”. The results were presented to over 70 attendees via Zoom and laid the foundation for a lively discussion on, among other things, the future development of SAF production and usage, the evolution of the hygiene measures along the travel chain, and the resilience of the aviation system.
