In the fiscal year 2021, the earnings of Bauhaus Luftfahrt decreased by -9.2 % to 4.5 million EUR. The donations from the Free State of Bavaria increased by +22.8 % to 1.7 million EUR. The membership fees increased by +50.0 kEUR, due to the full membership of the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

Revenues from public-funded third-party projects decreased by -93.8 kEUR (-8.2 %) to 1.3 million EUR in 2021. This income is attributable to work on 12 research projects funded by the European Union, the German Federal Government, or the Free State of Bavaria. The decrease is primarily due to the completion of two larger projects in 2020 and 2021 funded by the European Union and the completion of one project in 2021 funded by the German Federal Government.

The project revenues with our industrial partners decreased by -756.9 kEUR (-78.7 %) to 427.1 kEUR. Due to the economic effects of COVID-19, the financial contributions to research projects were reduced.

For the year 2022, Bauhaus Luftfahrt expects no significant changes in earnings. We forecast a small increase in project revenues with partners, but this will not reach the level before 2020. A decline in revenues from public-funded third-party projects is expected due to the completion of two larger projects funded by the European Union.
